Hero Motorsports 2018 DakarHero Motorsports entered cross country rally in 2016 in partnership with Germany’s Speedbrain. This Indo-German collaboration picked up CS Santosh and Joaquim Rodrigues for the 2016 Merzouga Rally followed by the 2017 Dakar where CS Santosh finished 47th and Rodriques finished 12th. CS Santosh went on to win Desert Storm this year while Rodriques clinched the India Baja Rally 2017 which latched to be official Dakar challenge. The team has been successful with a 100% finish rate.

Now, Spanish rider Oriol Mena joins CS Santosh and Joaquim Rodrigues. This is not the first time Mena is racing for Hero Motorsports. PanAfrica Rally for the first time saw the new and improved 450cc bike with new suspension setup and brand new shock which Mena rode on in 2017. Oriol Mena has over 13 years of experience in World Enduro Championship and 14 years in Spanish Enduro Championship. He has been the Enduro Junior World Champion, 2009 and has won the International Six Days Enduro, as a member of the Spanish Trophy team, in the years 2007, 2009 and 2010. Mena will also train and develop young rally drivers from across the globe

”We are [also] pleased with our motorsport team, which in its debut season made a mark in rallies across continents last year,” said Hero MotoCorp’s boss Pawan Munjal at the EICMA.

“The team is now ready for Dakar 2018. We are also taking our learning and experience from motor sports to develop new concepts and products for our customers,” he added.

Hero Motorsports Team will be riding the new motorcycle at the next Dakar Rally, after successfully testing it at the recently concluded OiLibiya Rally. The 40th Dakar edition is scheduled from 6th to 20th January starting in Peru and culminating in Argentina covering over 9000 kilometers where tough men drive their state of the art cars, trucks and motorbikes through the hot desert.
